Dental CT scans are very important when planning for dental implants. They are used to assess bone height / density /health, and other indicators that help our implantologist to plan a restoration using dental implants. People are often surprised that the tooth body extends so far into the gum. This should be taken into consideration when some clinics offer the Mdi  (also known as a  mini implant) as a replacement for a whole tooth. Although much cheaper then conventional implants the implant is in fact tiny and was never designed to be a whole tooth replacement but rather to act as a support to stabilize dentures.

A conventional two stage or single stage implant when placed by a qualified implantologist will last as long as the patient.
