Using ATM's and Credit Cards Overseas

If you intend to make purchases while overseas it's a good idea to let your bank or credit card company know. Especially for large ticket items such as paying for your dental work.
We have had the situation where one of our clients had his credit card cancelled due to an over zealous staff member concerned by possible fraudulent use of the card. After talking with my own bank (ANZ) it was suggested to inform them you are travelling overseas and intend to make substantial purchases.
Another idea is to check with your bank that your card can be used in overseas ATM's. In Manila for example some were fine and others were not. Your bank should have an international section that will let you know which banks in Manila will be compatable with your card
